Toni Braxton has had problems with bankruptcy before, and it appears that she has filed for bankruptcy again for the second time.
She has sold millions of albums and was one of the most famous R&B singers in the early 1990s but has been struggling with funds since her singing career started dwindling.
She filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California, according to TMZ. She has also insisted that she is now facing up to $50 million in debt that is owed to creditors like American Express, AT&T, and DirecTV, among others.
Her assets are worth anywhere between $1 million and $10 million and her income will never be enough to cover the bills.
She has struggled with money problems throughout her career. She first filed for bankruptcy in 1998, when she was still seemingly relevant in the music industry. She also launched a lawsuit against her former record label, LaFace records.
She has maintained that her recording deal was so far below that of other top selling artists in her genre that she is entitled to more money. At the time, she was only earning a total of 35 cents for every record sold.
She recovered from her financial problems initially by releasing a number of albums and starring in plays.
She also made an appearance on the popular reality television series “Dancing With the Stars” in 2008.
