Karl Lagerfeld Wants Haider Ackermann to Succeed Him at Chanel

Despite rumors of Alber Elbaz taking over at Chanel in 2012, it seems Karl Lagerfeld has someone else in mind for the head honcho position when, or rather if, he decides to retire. The Kaiser has name-dropped Haider Ackermann to Numero magazine as his current top choice for the position, although it's unknown how much control Karl has over who the board eventually chooses. He says:
I have a contract for life so it all depends on who I would like to hand it to. At the moment I’d say Haider Ackermann.

We love Haider's avant-garde designs, but we can't really see him at Chanel. In the same vein, Alber is one of our favorites and Lanvin wouldn't be the same without him. But if not those two, then who? Although perhaps this isn't even a conversation worth having because knowing Karl, he'll be designing until his last moment.
